The following are rules for the classes we plan to race in 2003.

Outlaw 10.5:
 

CLASS DESCRIPTION:

Outlaw 10.5" is a headsup class designed for vehicles produced from major manufacturers. This means the vehicles must come from a major assembly line, i.e. no panel cars, and have been assigned a valid Vehicle Identification Number from the manufacturer. Cars must weigh a minimum of 3,000 pounds including driver.

BODY:

Factory quarter panels and roof required. All factory pillar posts and door jambs must be present. No customizing of bodylines allowed. Fiberglass panels limited to front-end pieces, doors, deck lid and bumpers, and must be factory dimensions and appearing. Aftermarket spoilers & wings allowed. Wing size is limited to 20 inches from transition point to tip of spoiler. Hood, doors, and deck lid must be operable. Hatchback cars must have factory dimension style hatch. Stock grille must be retained. Cars must have functioning headlights and taillights. Hideaway headlight style cars should have some type of headlight at least behind headlight grills. Lexan may be used in place of factory windows or glass. There is a ride height requirement of four inches measured at the lowest point in the front of the car.

INTERIOR:

Interior must have stock appearing dash. Aftermarket steering column allowed but must be in stock location. Driver's seat must be in stock location and the centerline of the driver's shoulder must not set behind the plane of the door jamb.

FIREWALL:

Factory firewall must be in stock locatin but may be notched for clearance of bellhousing, distributor, blower or intercooler. Smoothing of firewall for appearance allowed.

FRONT CHASSIS / SUSPENSION:

No full tube chassis allowed. Back half cars only. The back half lower frame section must not extend forward past the rear most portion of the K-member of crossmember and the suspension components cannot attach to it. Complete stock framerails from firewall forward must be retained. Front frame horns may be modified for fitting or removable front end. Stock type front suspension and configuration required. All aftermarket control arms must bolt in factory mounting location with the exception being an aftermarket K-member. In the case of K-member cars, the upper control arm and or strut must bolt in factory mounting positions. The lower control arm should bolt in factory style location to the K-member and K-member must be removable. Aftermarket shocks and springs allowed but must be in stock locations. Commercially available coil over conversins allowed. Aftermarket spindles allowed as long as they bolt to stock or aftermarket control arms. Strut or shock towers required but can be notched for header clearance. Relocating of strut towers not allowed. Note: There can be no suspension components mounted to or hung from roll bar tubing.

REAR CHASSIS / SUSPENSION:

Any aftermarket rear suspension allowed. 25-1 back-halved cars allowed.

ENGINE:

Any engine combination and power added style allowed. Mufflers required for all cars with the exception of turbo cars. Turbo exhaust should be directed toward rear of car. No side or frontal exit of exhaust in front of front wheels.

DRIVETRAIN:

Any converter type transmission allowed. Clutch cars must add 200 pounds to minimum weight.

TIRES:

Any slick up to 10.5" sidewall designation or DOT tire up to 13.50" sidewall designation allowed.

ELECTRONICS:

All electronic devices allowed except for delay boxes.

LETTERING / DECALS:

Sponsorship and decals limited to windows only.

GENERAL RULES:

Absolutely no deep staging. This will result in an automatic disqualification. Two crew members per car allowed on the starting line. Ruling on controversial situations will be final and at the discretion of the tech official.


LIMITED STREET

 

We will not be running L/S, but these are the rules for Phenix Motorsports park.

CLASS DESCRIPTION:

Limited Street is a heads-up class designed for street legal cars from a major manufacturer weighing a minimum of 3,100 pounds. Cars will qualify on a .400 Pro-Tree and eliminations will run on a Pro Ladder.

BODY:

Stock bodylines must be retained Fiberglass pieces limited to hood, inner fenders and bumpers. Hood scoops allowed but must not protrude above halfway position on windshield. All factory glass windows required and must be operable. Lexan not allowed. Factory Grill & headlights required. Inner Fenders are required but may be notched for subframe connectors or suspension components. Trunk pan may be notched for fuel cell or fuel pump placement.

INTERIOR:

Full interior required. This includes stock dash and dash pad, stock steering column, carpet, headliner, door panels and bothhe front seats in stock location. Rear seat is optional only if area under it is carpeted. Dash pad may be notched for roll bar clearance. Nitrous bottles in passenger area are not allowed. They are allowed behind front seats or in the trunk.

FRONT CHASSIS / SUSPENSION:

Stock front frame rails and suspension required. Aftermarket control arms and bushings allowed as long as they bolt in stock locations. Rack and Pinion steering allowed. Aftermarket coil over shocks allowed and aftermarket direct replacement struts allowed, but must bolt in stock location with the exception of aftermarket K-member, in the case of K-member cars, the upper control arm must bolt in stock location, but the K-member and lower control arms must still be removable. Aftermarket bolt in sub-frames not allowed. Cross member may be notched for oil pan clearance.

REAR CHASSIS / SUSPENSION:

Any type rear suspension allowed, Stock frame rails must be intact but may be notched for tire clearance only. Rulings on controversial frame notching will be final and at the discretion of the tech official. Wheelie bars are not allowed.

FIREWALL:

Stock firewall must be retained and in stock location. Notching for clearance of bell housing, distributor, supercharger or intercooler allowed. Smoothing of firewall for appearance is allowed.

ENGINE:

Any engine combination and power adders allowed. Engine must be in stock location. Motor plates and solid mounts allowed. Mufflers required for all cars except turbocharged entries. Turbo exhaust should be directed toward rear of car. No side or frontal exit of exhaust in front of front wheels allowed.

TRANSMISSION:

Any OEM type automatic or manual transmissions allowed. Aftermarket heavy-duty cases allowed. Lenco, Jeffco or Liberty clutch type transmissions not allowed. Air shifters and trans-brakes are allowed.

ELECTRICAL:

Stock type headlights, taillights and turn signals required and must be functional. Bracket racing aids, such as optical sensors, delay boxes and electrical or pneumatic throttle stops are not allowed. Progressive nitrous controllers and data recorders allowed.

TIRES:

Any slick up to 10.5" sidewall designation allowed. "W" tires are not allowed. DOT tires up to a 12.50" sidewall designation allowed.

LETTERING / DECALS:

Sponsorship and decals limited to windows only.

GENERAL RULES:

Absolutely no deep staging allowed. This will result in an automatic disqualification. Cars must cross scales after every qualifying and elimination pass. Tow-backs are allowed. No more than two crewmembers allowed on the starting line. Crewmembers must leave the starting line and burnout area after pass.

 

Fun Ford Weekend Street Outlaw:

Reserved for 1979 and later AAP approved FoMoCo 2-door passenger cars. A Competition Factor which may require the adjustment of weight or other restrictions or requirements to a particular competition combination may be used at any time in the interest of safety as well as keeping competition even. Heads up, no break out, .400 Pro Tree eliminations. Burn outs across starting line permitted. All-run field, minimum of one (1) qualifying pass mandatory. Qualifying will be in accordance with AAP qualifying procedure regarding lane and run order assignments. Class designation S/O followed by permanent AAP number.
 
 
 
ENGINE:

CYLINDER HEADS
Any AAP approved, generally available cylinder heads accepted. Billet heads not permitted. No restrictions on modifications.

CYLINDER BLOCK
Any AAP approved Ford or Ford style aftermarket cylinder block accepted. Any internal components or modifications permitted. Dry sump systems recommended.

INDUCTION SYSTEM
Any intake manifold permitted. Carburetion limited to maximum of one (1) carburetor. Split carburetor permitted. EFI fuel injection permitted, maximum of one (1) throttle body with single throttle blade. Maximum of two carburetors or throttle bodies permitted for nitrous oxide combinations. Split carburetors permitted. Maximum of eight (8) throttle blades permitted for carburetors / throttle bodies for nitrous combinations.

EXHAUST SYSTEM
Headers permitted, must exit under the chassis and behind the front tires. On turbocharged vehicles it is recommended that exhaust exit be straight back rather than angled to one side of the vehicle. Muffler for each exhaust pipe required.

ENGINE SETBACK
Permitted, must not touch firewall.

FUEL / FUEL CHECK
Gasoline will be the only fuel permitted. Fuel checks, using calibrated equipment, will be performed at random times during the event. Driver's must state exactly the fuel they are using. All measurements of chemical content will be compared with the manufacturer's specifications for that particular fuel. Fuels must be used as blended by the manufacturer with no additives, no mixing with other fuel, and no deviation from condition as delivered. Any variation may be grounds for disqualification. Fuel checks will be performed without advance notice.

FUEL SYSTEM
Properly mounted fuel cell mandatory. Front mounted fuel cell recommended.

RADIATOR
Front mounted radiator required. Water pump and fan may be electrically driven.

NITROUS OXIDE
Permitted on non supercharged and non turbocharged vehicles. Must be properly installed according to manufacturers recommendations.

SUPERCHARGERS / TURBOCHARGERS
Single centrifugal supercharger or turbocharger permitted on non nitrous equipped vehicles. Turbocharger inducer size limited to 101MM. Measurement will be at the leading edge of the compressor wheel where it meets the compressor inlet housing. All incoming air is required to travel through the inducer from the front or leading edge of the inducer and cannot be introduced to the compressor blades through ports or slots of any kind. Twin turbochargers, superchargers or roots type superchargers prohibited.


DRIVE TRAIN:

CLUTCH
Clutch release must be manually operated by the driver's foot.

REAR END
Heavy duty, narrowed unit permitted.

TRANSMISSION
Any type transmission mounted in the conventional location permitted. Reverse gear mandatory. Any shifting mechanism permitted. Neutral safety switch mandatory.


BRAKES & SUSPENSION:

BRAKES
Operational brakes required on all four wheels.

STEERING
Aftermarket steering in the conventional location permitted.

SUSPENSION
Full automotive type systems mandatory. Four-link or ladder bars permitted. Coil-over springs permitted. Minimum of one hydraulic shock absorber per wheel required. Rigid mounted suspension prohibited. Electric shocks permitted.

WHEELIE BARS
Mandatory. Non-metallic wheels only. Must be correctly adjusted to control
wheel stands.


FRAME:

BALLAST
Permitted. Must be properly mounted.

BUMPERS
Stock or composite duplicates mandatory front and rear, may be molded into the body. Must be original size and shape. Approve front air dam permitted. Rear bumper may be notched or clearanced for wheelie bar installation.

FRAME
Stock OEM front sub frame required from OEM radiator bulkhead to firewall. Additional frame or chassis stiffening around front sub frames permitted. Location of A-arm and strut attachment points on front of chassis may be altered. Rear frame area from firewall rearward may be fabricated. Must meet appropriate SFI specs.

GROUND CLEARANCE
Minimum 3 inches from front of car to 12 inches behind centerline of front axle, 2 inches for remainder of car, except oil pan and exhaust system.

PARACHUTE
Must be properly installed according to manufacturer's recommendations. Two parachutes strongly recommended. Rear of parachute pack(s) cannot be forward of rear tip of spoiler.

WHEELBASE
Stock OEM wheelbase within one (1) inch required. Rear end must be in the OEM location relevant to the body. Body may not be relocated rearward. Maximum wheelbase variation left to right, one (1) inch.


TIRES & WHEELS:

TIRES & WHEELS
Racing tires and wheels mandatory, front and rear. Maximum rear tire size may not exceed 33.0 x 10.5 inches. "W" series rear tires permitted. Tire size must be embossed on sidewall. Rear wheel width may not be greater than four (4) inches wider than rear tire tread width.


INTERIOR:

UPHOLSTERY
AAP approved driver's seat must be upholstered and be a minimum 24 inches high at the back. Passenger seat may be removed. Interior gutting prohibited, must have a clean, neat appearance. Dashboard may be a lightweight replica or original.


BODY:

BODY
Must be 1979 or later AAP approved FoMoCo 2-door passenger car body. Steel production body shell required. Lightweight components permitted. Must maintain original height, width, length and contour. Non approved alterations or customizing to gain an advantage is prohibited. Front and rear overhang must remain OEM stock.

FENDERS
Front fender opening must be the same as stock. Rear fender opening may be enlarged to accommodate larger tires.

DOORS
Must be functional and operable from inside and outside. Must have sheet metal deflector plate between fenders and leading edge of doors.

FIREWALL / ENGINE COMPARTMENT
Stock OEM firewall or steel firewall in OEM location required. Firewall may not be relocated. Minimum thickness is .024 inch steel and must completely seal the engine compartment from the driver's compartment. OEM front strut towers and upper radiator bulkhead must be maintained. Some modifications permitted for engine or chassis component clearance. Inner fenderwell side panels may be replaced with aluminum. Top portion of strut towers may be modified to provide lower ride height. Modifications to firewall for clutch / transmission servicing permitted.

FLOOR
Floor may be fabricated from .024 inch steel or .032 inch aluminum. Driver's side floor pan must be .024 inch steel and must be welded in place. Belly pans permitted from firewall rearward, must be removable. Chassis, frame and driveline must be below floor. NHRA / IHRA approved carbon fiber rear wheel tubs and floor permitted.

GRILLE
Must be stock production grille for body used or exact composite duplicate, may be closed off to prevent air passage.

HOOD / SCOOP
Minor clearancing permitted around supercharger or turbocharger tubing or intercooler tubing. Must be done in a clean and neat manner. Cowl induction riser permitted. Snorkel air scoops permitted. Air scoop must not be "stacked" on top of cowl riser. Air inlet must not exceed nine (9) inches above original OEM hood surface as measured from base of hood. A minimum of four fasteners required on the leading edge of hood.

SPOILERS
Rear spoiler attaching to rear of trunk lid or hatch may be no longer than seventeen (17) inches measured from the rear of the trunk lid or hatch (at the center of the vehicle) to the rear of the spoiler. Spoilers must extend the full width, side to side, of the trunk lid or hatch and must not be less than horizontal with the ground. Spill plates or vertical deflection plates may be a maximum of four (4) inches above rear spoiler and are strongly recommended. Spill plates may extend below the spoiler a maximum of eight (8) inches and must not attach to rear quarter panels. A lip or wickerbill along the entire trailing edge of the spoiler is required, minimum height 1/4 inch above spoiler, and may not exceed four (4) inches above spoiler.

STREET EQUIPMENT
Stock OEM sealed beam headlight and taillight lenses mandatory, cannot be painted or decaled on body. Engine air inlet through headlight area prohibited. At least one (1) brake light must be operational.

WINDSHIELD / WINDOWS
Lightweight, shatterproof replacements such as Lexan MR 4000 permitted.


ELECTRICAL:

BATTERY
Maximum of two batteries permitted.

DEAY BOXES / DEVICES
Any starting line aid other than line lock or two-step type device prohibited.


SUPPORT GROUP:

FIRE EXTINGUISHER SYSTEM
Permanently mounted approved fire suppression system with 5-pound minimum capacity mandatory. Must be divided with at least one nozzle on driver and one nozzle on engine.

TOW VEHICLES
Three or four wheeled, Quadrunner/ATV, golf cart type tow vehicle permitted. Maximum of two people only on tow vehicle during racecar retrieval, after completion of run, unless tow vehicle has seats for more. Full size tow vehicles prohibited.


DRIVER:

CREDENTIALS
Valid Competition License and chassis certification required, and MUST MEET HOST TRACK'S SANCTIONING BODY (NHRA / IHRA) REQUIREMENTS. Current valid AAP permanent numbers mandatory.

DRIVER
Must be on left side of vehicle in conventional location. All applicable safety equipment required.

SANCTIONING BODY RULEBOOKS
All participants must be familiar with and abide by all rules, regulations and procedures defined in the appropriate sanctioning body's Official Rulebooks affiliated with the host track (IHRA or NHRA), and also any and all applicable SFI Specs, which are made part of the Rulebook.


WEIGHTS / DISPLACEMENTS:

All minimum weights include driver, measured at the conclusion of a run.

Engines under 310 cubic inches may deduct 200 pounds from minimum weight. Small Block nitrous engines may deduct 300 pounds from minimum weight.
